First
Day:
On the day of departure you will be collected
from one of our selected pick-up points in Jo'burg or Pretoria between
5.00-6.00am. The journey
takes approximately 5 hours with stops along the way.
You will meet your ranger at a lovely bush
pub at the edge of the reserves, where you will be required to
sign an indemnity form and everyone forming the group, have their first lunch
together.
After lunch, you are transferred in an open 4x4
Land Rover, to one of our bush camps, deep in the Greater Kruger
National Park, making sure that over the next few days, you
spend the maximum time enjoying yourself in the bush.......
Mornings:
In the mornings you set off at first light after a snack
of rusks,
cereal or yogurt/milk with
tea or coffee.
Enjoying the cool morning breeze, your ranger may decide you
walk directly from camp or to use the Land Rover initially, to get deeper
into the bush!
Your ranger & tracker will decipher the tracks and signs left by the
animals during the night. The thrill of walking,
tracking and getting up close to any one of the creatures of the
bush is an unforgettable experience, especially any of the Big
Five.
On the walks there is also a lot of emphasis on all the other interesting
things seen, such as trees, plants, insects and birds.
A big breakfast is prepared by chef back in camp and then there
is free time to shower, socialise, unwind or siesta during the
heat of the day.
Afternoons:
After lunch, it's time to head out again.
The afternoon's activity is a walk/drive combination, looking
for tracks and activity in other areas of the bush.
After the walk we drive to a beautiful spot in the bush, where
we’ll have 'sundowners' while waiting for a stunning African
sunset.
As the diurnal animals and birds anxiously get ready for bed,
the stage and sounds change and a whole new world awakens......
Nights:
This is when we connect up the trackers hand held spotlight to
the Land Rover and slowly night drive back
towards camp, searching for nocturnal creatures, that are so
rarely seen during the day.
Back in camp a hearty dinner and a warm campfire will be
waiting for you.
After a long day in the bush and after a few drinks, there is
nothing more rewarding than sneaking off to your tent, getting into
bed and falling asleep listening to the night sounds of the African bush, all under a blanket of
the overwhelming stars of the Southern hemisphere!
Last Day:
On the last day you will go out for one last morning walk. Sniffing the
typical scents of the bush you’ll realise how much you
have
learned already!
After breakfast it’s time to pack up and be transferred back to the bush
pub. At the bush pub you will be required to pay (in cash) the Conservation Fee and
for the drinks that you consumed, at the camps honesty bar.
With everyone saying
their goodbyes,
you are transferred to one of our selected drop-off points back in Jo'burg or Pretoria or
drop-off at Jo'burg's Oliver Tambo Int Airport, arriving at approx 6.00pm.
