Kruger Park Open Vehicle Safari

Safari Cuisine

barbeques to buffet restaurants

Your Safari Ranger will normally cook your breakfast in the open at a picnic site during the course of your morning game viewing drive or on returning back to camp you visit the camps buffet restaurant.

Breakfasts are usually elaborate affairs - cereals, yoghurt, fruit, juice, eggs, bacon, toast, fried tomatoes and tea & coffee.

As breakfasts are more like brunch we do not provide lunch in Kruger Park. Depending on how successful the game viewing is after breakfast, we always try to arrive back at camp for lunchtime.

Most people simply buy a toasted sandwich or a small salad for lunch at the camps self-service cafeteria.

After lunch you may wish to stay at camp and siesta or continue on with some more game viewing throughout the afternoon, returning back to camp before the camp gates close for the night.

Rather than going to the camps buffet restaurant each night, your Safari Ranger may have time to prepare traditional South African meals, providing you with a taste of our countries delicious 'barbeque' cuisine.

Dining in the open at camp is always a very nice ending to the day; relaxing, chatting and enjoying living in the bush, finishing off the day with a few glasses of wine or a couple of nice cold beers!

We do not charge extra for barbeque dinners on our open vehicle safaris.

Barbeques are always cooked outside under the stars in front of your chalet or guesthouse and served on a fully laid table.

We cater for all special meal requirements for vegetarians and diabetics.

Each camp in Kruger Park has a shop stocked full of all sorts of items to eat and drink. You will be able to visit the camps shop during the day to keep yourself supplied with more drinks or with alcoholic drinks and with snack foods, fruit etc. An ice box is kept in the game viewing vehicle for everyone to use.
